$20 per meter
Great Britain’s famous Chord Company has released its first shielded speaker cable
Chord Company says the added screening has dramatically improved the performance of its entry-level Chord Carnival Silver Screen loudspeaker cable, and that at just $20 per metre, it will deliver significant improvements in performance to all levels of hi-fi and home cinema systems. ‘SilverScreen delivers a performance and set of features that make it unique,’ says Graeme Dunlop, of Synergy Audio Visual, which distributes Chord Company products in Australia.
The oxygen-free copper multi-stranded conductors, the low-density polyethylene insulation, soft PVC jacket and twisted-pair configuration used in Carnival SilverScreen are all similar to those used in Chord’s Carnival Classic. In the SilverScreen, the soft PVC jacket is heavily overlapped by a twin-foil shielding system, which in turn is surrounded and protected by a translucent PVC outer jacket. Says Dunlop ‘As with Chord’s award-winning Signature and Epic speaker cables, the shield fitted to the Carnival SilverScreen reduces interference, lowers the noise floor and brings significant improvements to the entire frequency range of the system in which it is used. Timing improves, as does the dynamic performance. Levels of detail are increased but what really matters is the improvement in coherency, making listening more enjoyable and more involving.’
